Tribal design hand stitched pipli applique work lampshade made from pure cotton fabrics handcrafted by artisans of Pipili, the hub of traditional art & craft in Odisha.
Applique work is a traditional patchwork that has a long history in Odisha. This Appliquéd work is normally dependent on some bright colours. The colours included here are red, white, black, yellow, green and blue etc. The artisans skillfully stitch the traditional motifs like animals, birds and flowers on fabric.
Modern applique art form are mainly inspired by nature in religions and closely connected with religious traditions.
